Getting Kansas back to basics.

When my grandfather started our family business 50 years ago, he relied on the basics – the values of hard work, Kansas common sense and community service. These are the same values that I aim to run the family business with today and the same values Gwen and I have worked to instill in our own children.

These are also the same values I think we need in Topeka – working to solve the state's financial problems, standing up for our schools and military families, and fighting to restore Kansas common sense to the process. Like any parent, concern for my children's future led me to run for the Legislature. We must have good schools so that our kids can learn and reach their greatest potential. And, we must have good-paying jobs so that our children and grandchildren can stay and raise their own families right here at home.

Kansas is facing some of its most challenging times. But - through hard work and common sense - I believe our best days are yet to come. You can count on me to stand up for what's right, to focus on common sense solutions, and to work with others to get the job done. Together, we can restore common sense in Topeka and get Kansas back to basics.
